Meet The Team

Pia Atal:
Founder/Curriculum Development
Python Certified from Cornell
As a current senior at Oak Park High School, I'm super passionate about coding and it has always been a goal of mine to spread this passion. I find coding to be a great way to express both my creative and analytical sides. Through the pandemic, I realized just how important coding is as technology connected the world when we couldn't meet otherwise. I believe that every student should learn how to code in order to be a part of the future. After high school, I hope to pursue a career in Computer Science and Business! In my free time, I like reading, going to the beach, hiking, baking, and exploring new places.

Vice President
As a high schooler during the pandemic, I have learned much about the importance of technology in our everyday lives. I hope to expand on this importance by helping others develop their own skills in coding! In the future, I hope to combine my interests of coding and helping others by pursuing a career in Management and Technology. A few fun facts about me is that I love to go on hikes, drink too much coffee, and I have rewatched the Office about 9 times.

I grew up always loving and avidly playing video games, but nothing could compare to the amount I played and when the pandemic hit. Even in-between the countless hours, however, I found myself indulging into programming more than usual. I learned Scratch as a fun yet powerful hobby in elementary school, and grew my experience as a programmer there. Being able to get those same experiences I had as a child into the hands of others is my calling. Some other fun facts about me are that I have played the piano for ten years, try a bit too hard at school stuff, and love to volunteer in the community.

Social Media Manager
At a young age I discovered my passion for programming and quickly understood the power of coding. Technology is truly the future of our world and I love to be a part of that. Eager to share my knowledge and inspire others, I joined Cosmo Coding. Here, I was able to teach programming to students. I believe that students should be able to explore the endless possibilities of coding and programming. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in programming as well as business. Things I like to do in my free time include going on hikes, trying new restaurants with family/friends, and watching new movies and shows!

Hi! I’m Shriya Matada and I’m a junior at Santa Susana High School. I’ve been taking computer programming classes since middle school. When quarantine happened, I realized how much our world revolves around technology and devoted myself to learning about different programming languages, taking a computer science course each year in high school. In my free time, I like reading, listening to music, writing, and dancing. What I love about computer science is the way I can incorporate my hobbies into my passion for coding

Hello! My name is Shravan Devraj and I am a student at Oak Park High School. I love to play video games and my love for video games is what eventually led to me getting interested in coding. I started to learn Python during the pandemic because I had a lot of free time on my hands. I initially started to learn Python through YouTube videos and eventually I went and further increased my knowledge of Python through Coursera. I then eventually got certified in Python through Coursera last year. Some other facts about myself are that I have been playing the piano for about 2-3 years,I love to read books, and I love to solve Rubik's cubes in my free time.

Hi! I’m Austin Zhang, and am currently a Sophomore in Grandview High School! I’m extremely passionate when it comes to coding, particularly in Java. I too remember learning the language only 3 years ago and realized how fun it was. Initially I just practiced coding for competitions but I’ve branched into creating projects with Java, and I’m currently building a video game in Java with a few of my friends(feel free to ask me about it!). I love to play the violin, swim, and occasionally play a game of chess.

Hey! My name is Ben, and I’m currently a senior at Oaks Christian High School. I used to play a lot of video games as a kid and thought it would be really cool to become a video game programmer. From there, I went on to discover my interest in the world of computer science which has led me to where I am now. For me, there’s few things as relaxing as a late night coding session with music playing and the fan blowing, and I hope to share this joy through CosmoCoding. Some of my hobbies include producing music, swimming, and cars.
